Martina Ehleiter lives in Basel as a freelance stage designer.
She studied interior design at the Burg Giebichenstein Academy of Art in Halle (D) and completed a guest semester at the Institute of Interior Design and Scenography in Basel. Martina Ehleiter completed her Master of Arts ZFH in Art Education at the Zurich University of the Arts.
After her studies in interior design, she worked as an assistant stage designer at the Basel Theatre, the Zurich Opera House, the Schaubühne Berlin and the Stuttgart State Opera. She has been working as a freelance stage designer since 2009 and has been a member of Firma für Zwischenbereiche since 2012, with whom she shares an interest in socio-cultural issues.
Collaborations with groups and collectives of the Swiss independent theatre scene such as Firma für Zwischenbereiche, Peng Palast, Verein der Flaneure and Volksbühne Basel characterise Martina Ehleiter’s work, which has been shown at Theater Basel, Kaserne Basel, Schlachthaustheater Bern, Wildwuchs Festival and Theaterspektakel Zürich, among others.
Martina Ehleiter also works as a lecturer at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW in the Scenography Master Studio.
